Online MBA in Advanced Accounting

CPA certification

The Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Advanced Accounting is designed to help students who desire to pursue careers in business and accounting, or specifically a certification in Public Accounting (CPA). Therefore, this program is limited to students who have an undergraduate degree and background in accounting.

In compliance with Colorado State Board of Accountancy education requirements, students must pursue 150 hours total of business and accounting training. Undergraduate level work counts toward 120 hours of that requirement, and this specific emphasis provides students with a way to meet the required 30 hours on their way to a master’s degree and CPA credentials.

Students who are able to obtain their CPA from the state are free to practice accounting in nearly any area, including:

With growing scrutiny of company finances, CPA growth is projected to be much faster than average, especially at a Christian university with a focus on ethical decision making and leadership. For those looking for degrees for CPA certification preparation, an MBA with an emphasis in accounting will help meet the demand for ethical accounting practices while offering broad job opportunities.

Who should consider an MBA with an Accounting emphasis?

Although MBA accounting emphasis students may have many unique backgrounds, students who select a master’s degree in accounting tend to have strong background knowledge in accounting, finance, economics and statistics. CCU's program equips future business and nonprofit leaders and managers with a Christian worldview, along with a broad business administration background and technology base.

Students who participate in this program will be prepared to take the CPA exam, and will also have a biblical background that highlights both the benefits of serving with excellence and making ethical decisions to further the Kingdom of God. Graduates from this program will have a unique understanding of how accounting can also be ministry, whether through living above reproach, or knowing how to take their faith into the workplace, as well as the scriptural basis for making good stewardship decisions.
